Have you ever wondered what he actually looked like? This drawing was done using a 30-year-old Jewish model. I added what I’m told was a traditional look of Jesus’ day with the hair, beard and head covering. Is it what he looked like? Probably not, but hopefully a little closer than what we often see.

I had seen an album cover with this basic composition without the animals, so using two people in my office as the models for Mary and Joseph, I painted this scene and added the animals. The only reference photo I still have is shown as my friend Tracy posed as Joseph.
