The symbol is a “C” for compromise with two arrows pointing toward the center representing opposing ideas coming to the center in mutual compromise. In everyday life compromise is often a good thing. It allows two equal but opposing views to exist without destroying each other. However, when we are asked to compromise the teachings of Scripture, we must ask ourselves, "Is this opposing view really equal with Scripture?” And, “How clearly understood is the teaching from Scripture that I’m being asked to compromise?” The answer is, there are no sources of information on par with Scripture because only Scripture is a direct revelation from God given to us as the standard by which all other knowledge is measured. Though Scripture is not meant to be a science textbook, when it speaks about scientific matters it will be correct if simply understood in accordance with accepted rules of grammar and syntax. Science represents mans limited abilities and faulty reasoning power due to our fallen state and therefore should never be elevated above Scripture in importance. While it is true that some portions of Scripture are difficult to understand, let’s look at what the Bible says about death, the age of the earth, the Flood of Noah's day and the character of God, to see if any of these might fall within the “less clearly understood” category...

Let's see what the Bible says about death.

Is the science of macro-evolution really equal with Scripture?

“How clearly understood is the teaching from Scripture that I’m being asked to compromise?”

COMPROMISE

Don't elevate man’s knowledge above Scripture.
